PASSAIC, N.J. (AP) - A large fire has destroyed three homes in Passaic.
Officials say the four-alarm blaze started around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the basement of a three-story home and then spread. Firefighters from several municipalities were called to the scene to help extinguish the fire. Passaic Fire Chief Patrick Trentacost says the team of over 120 firefighters put the blaze out around 11 p.m.
The adjacent Theodore Roosevelt School 10 was not harmed by the flames. Officials say the school will be closed Thursday.
No one was injured in the fire. The Red Cross is currently helping more than 20 residents who have been displaced.
Trentacost says the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
