MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Fire at a condo building in Madison has left one person dead and 11 other residents out of their homes.

Firefighters were called to the building on Madison’s East Side at about 4:45 a.m. Sunday. The fire department says no alarms were sounding and no residents were evacuating the building when firefighters arrived.

No flames could be seen from outside, but a fire was discovered in one of the units.

The American Red Cross is helping the displaced residents find temporary housing. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
