HARTSVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Authorities are investigating if two drive-by shootings in Hartsville are connected to a high-speed crash that killed two people a few miles away.
Troopers say a Chrysler 300 ran off the left side of a rural road about 8 miles north of Hartsville and slammed into a pine tree around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
Authorities say the driver and front seat passenger of the car died and two people in the backseat were taken to a Florence hospital with serious injuries.
Chesterfield County deputies say there was some evidence at the scene that the car had been shot at. Two drive-by shootings were reported in Hartsville not long before the wreck.
The names of the people killed have not been released.
