PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) - A semi-truck hauling empty propane tanks slid 120 feet down an embankment and into a creek northeast of Hermiston.

The East Oregonian newspaper reports (https://is.gd/ZlFC3Q) the crash happened Wednesday on Highway 37.

Oregon State Police said the truck driver escaped by jumping out of the passenger door just before the tractor slid down the steep embankment.

Roughly 10 gallons of motor oil leaked into the creek. A hazmat team responded and began setting up booms of absorbent pads downstream to collect any spillage.
