MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - The Cobb County Commission has unanimously approved a new pay scale that will result in raises for many county employees.
The new pay scale is scheduled to go into effect June 4.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (https://on-ajc.com/2losi9B ) the raises are estimated to cost $12.1 million through fiscal year 2018.
Chairman Mike Boyce called the employee raises approved Tuesday his “number one priority.”
Speaking after the meeting, Boyce declined to speculate about how the county would fund the new pay scale in the years to come or whether it may necessitate a tax hike.
Commissioner Lisa Cupid tied the raises to the county’s ability to provide quality services to residents.
