Metallica is getting ready for a multi-city stadium tour this summer and the band’s drummer, for one, is amped about hitting the road again.
“I’m just excited about the fact that that’s still possible to go out and play stadiums 36 years into a career and that people give a s—t,” Lars Ulrich told Rolling Stone. “It’s going to be awesome.”
“Doing a stadium run seemed like the perfect thing on the back of how well this record has been received and all the good will that’s out there in Metallica’s world right now,” Mr. Ulrich said of the planned three-month WorldWired tour.
In their early 50s now, the bandmates will have a tour that’s marked by rock and roll but maybe not so much on the sex and drugs.
“We carry our own chef that feeds us very organic and healthy stuff,” Mr. Ulrich told CBS “Late, Late Show” host James Corden, ETCanada reported. “We have not one, but two … guys that like, massage us and stretch us, warm us up, stitch us back together after the show.”
The Ticketmaster presale for WorldWired begins at 10 a.m. Thursday. The 23-city North American tour will open in Baltimore on May 10 and close in Edmonton, Alberta on Aug. 16.
