SUMITON, Ala. (AP) - One person is dead and a firefighter is badly injured after what investigators are calling a suspicious residential fire in Walker County.
Authorities who were called to a fire in the town of Sumiton arrived to find a mobile home engulfed in flames Tuesday night.
Someone inside the house was killed, and authorities are calling the fire suspicious. The victim’s name hasn’t been released.
A firefighter who fell through the floor of the burning structure is being treated at a hospital in Birmingham for severe injuries.
Sumiton police and the state fire marshal’s office are investigating.
