CULLOWHEE, N.C. (AP) - A dorm at Western Carolina University was briefly evacuated after smoke was reported in the building.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reported (https://avlne.ws/2l1LrMo) smoke was detected in the Walker residence hall about 5 p.m. Monday.

The Cullowhee Fire Department responded to the building. Students were allowed to return to their rooms around 10:15 p.m.



The dorm has 400 students. No injuries were reported.

There was no immediate word on what caused the smoke.
