CANADICE, N.Y. (AP) - Police say they believe a car was traveling at about 90 mph when it crashed on a rural western New York road, killing the two people in the vehicle.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says the crash occurred around 8:45 p.m. Saturday on County Road 37 in the town of Canadice (kan-uh-DAY’-is), 30 miles south of Rochester.
Deputies say the sedan left the road, hit an embankment and then a tree before finally coming to rest on its side. Two people from neighboring Livingston County - 32-year-old Richard Cansdale of Lima (LEYE’-muh) and 28-year-old Amberjo Rader of Dansville - were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say both victims were wearing their seatbelts.
Deputies are investigating whether or not alcohol was a factor.
