DOVER, Del. (AP) - Mourners have paid their last respects to a Delaware corrections officer killed during a prison uprising last week.

A funeral for Lt. Steven Floyd was held Saturday at Barratt’s Chapel in Frederica. The 47-year-old Floyd was found dead after a hostage standoff at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna. Three other DOC workers were taken hostage but survived the ordeal.

Sen. Chris Coons said on Twitter that the services for Floyd were “touching” and “emotional.” Coons called it a “real reminder of the dangers our corrections and police officers face every day.”
