Our friends on the political left continue to show their incredible hypocrisy. While claiming to support women and immigrants, they are more than a little critical of our first lady, who is both. President Trump has promised to do his best to keep the United States and all of her people safe and secure. Therefore it is reasonable for him to declare that no strangers will enter our country until we are sure they mean us no harm.

Yet the so-called “progressive” left hollers that such a position is inhumane and unfair. They feel sympathy for the refugees, as we all do. But where is their sympathy for those who were in the World Trade towers and the planes that brought them down? Consider the terror they must have felt; consider their families.

The left seems to have forgotten, if they ever knew, that the man who was president when I was born, the progressive liberal Franklin D. Roosevelt, gathered up more than 100,000 American citizens without due process or probable cause, people who were not guilty of any crimes, and put them in internment camps. This was a totally unconstitutional act. Many of the interned Americans lost their homes, businesses and health due to FDR’s action.

Mr. Trump has said he is willing to talk to any and all world leaders, including Vladimir Putin of Russia. The American left is up in arms over this, too. I suggest they remember that Roosevelt considered Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin a friend of America. Stalin had invaded and enslaved the people of more than one country in Eastern Europe. He starved and otherwise killed hundreds of thousands of his own people. Mr. Putin’s actions have been similar. Nevertheless, were Roosevelt and Stalin in power today, I suspect Roosevelt would have been glad of Stalin’s help with the Muslim extremists who threaten so many, as he was glad of Stalin’s help during World War II.

The left’s history is rife with far worse behavior than anything Mr. Trump has said, done or wishes to do. Perhaps these liberals should just sit back and enjoy the improvements in their lives which will soon come their way.
