COTTONWOOD, Ariz. (AP) - Cottonwood police say a passenger stabbed a car’s driver numerous times in the face, neck, arm and chest and is the subject of a manhunt.
Police identified the suspect as 23-year-old Benjamin Pita of Cottonwood and say he jumped out of the car after the stabbing Friday night and ran off.
Police say another passenger moved the 53-year-old victim and drove to a store to call 911.
Police say those in the car know each other and that the motive for the stabbing isn’t known.
The wounded man is hospitalized in serious condition.
Pita is described as Native American, 6 feet tall and 165 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and numerous tattoos. He was last seen wearing a black and yellow shirt.
