PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) - A Pittsfield man who had a pair of unsecured shotguns that he was not licensed to possess in his bedroom has been sentenced to 18 months in jail.
The Berkshire Eagle reports that 40-year-old Jeremy Paul pleaded guilty Thursday to illegal ownership of a firearm, improper storage of a firearm, and possession of ammunition without a firearms identification card. A charge of being an armed career felon was dropped.
Police executed a no-knock search of Paul’s apartment in April and in his bedroom found a loaded 12-gauge shotgun, with a scope attached, a 20-gauge shotgun, and several rounds of ammunition. Paul had no license to carry or a firearms identification card.
Paul’s lawyer said his client did not intend any harm with the weapons.
