SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (AP) - A body found Sunday in a central Indiana river has been identified as that of a man reported missing nearly a month ago.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Monday that the body discovered Sunday in the Big Blue River is that of 38-year-old Christopher Young.

The Shelbyville man’s father, Rusty Young, tells WXIN-TV that he and his older son found the body while kayaking about four miles west of Shelbyville.

Relatives said Christopher Young left his home on Nov. 6 to search for his two dogs and never returned.

Police believe he suffered minor injuries and became disoriented after getting into a confrontation with another man as he was searching for his dogs.

Shelbyville Police are awaiting autopsy and toxicology results in order to determine how Young died.
