PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. (AP) - A man on Long Island is being accused of biting the eye out of his family’s 3-year-old Shih Tzu.

The Nassau County SPCA says 20-year-old Aaron Kluger was arrested Saturday on a misdemeanor charge after the 3-year-old dog named Chloe was taken to the animal hospital on Nov. 6.

Veterinarians say the dog’s right eye had been bitten out. The dog underwent surgery to reattach the eye. It’s hoped the eye can be saved.

SPCA spokesman told Newsday the dog has been returned to the family and they are monitoring the situation.

It wasn’t clear if Kluger had a lawyer who could comment.
