OPINION:
The Mueller investigation into Russian interference in the last presidential election has morphed into an anti-Trump witch hunt. The question not asked, though, is who had the most to lose from a Trump victory. The answer is a resounding “President Obama!”
The Obama administration spent eight years flouting the laws of the land and pursuing a liberal agenda aimed at increasing the “Rainbow coalition” — to the detriment of the middle class. Mr. Obama and his cronies routinely politicized all executive-branch function, and when called to task were granted immunity from prosecution even though those granted immunity still refused to answer basic questions. Lois Lerner, Eric Holder and Hillary Clinton’s staff are all prime examples of this policy. And of course, there was no immunity for Republican targets.
Mr. Obama ruled by the pen, not through legislation. His foreign policy was a complete failure and led to the deaths of untold numbers of civilians in the Middle East, an immigration policy that promoted illegal immigration and sanctuary cities, a degraded military, a flat economy, and a war on police.
President Trump promised to “drain the swamp,” and that is the key to the continuing hostility and constant attacks on him. Aiding and abetting this hostility toward the president is the mainstream media, which supported Mr. Obama and failed miserably to report the facts and maintain an unbiased perspective.
Yes, the vehement attacks on Mr. Trump by the left will continue. Not to do so would mean admitting Mr. Obama’s legacy is just failure.
