CUSTER, S.D. (AP) - Authorities in southwestern South Dakota say five people managed to escape a house fire in Custer.

The Pennington County fire administrator says all five were treated and released from a Custer hospital.

The blaze broke out Saturday night. The fire caused extensive damage to the home, but firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to other structures.

Firefighters battled the blaze in temperatures as low as 13 degrees below zero (minus 25 Celsius).

No firefighters were hurt. The cause is under investigation.
