FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (AP) - The fatal shooting of a woman in Virginia led to a police chase in which the suspect shot at officers.
News outlets report a news release from the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a domestic-related shooting in Fredericksburg on Thursday morning and found an unidentified woman with three gunshot wounds to the chest. She died at the scene.
A Virginia State Police release says a trooper spotted the suspect’s car on Interstate 95, leading to a chase during which the male suspect fired at both the trooper - which led to a three-vehicle crash - and a deputy.
The chase ended when the unidentified suspect sideswiped another car. He was airlifted to a hospital for life-threatening injuries. The sheriff’s office says he appeared to have shot himself in the head.
