BOSTON (AP) - Two men have been convicted in the shooting death of an innocent bystander at a Boston street festival in 2014.
Keith Williams and Wesson Colas were found guilty of first-degree murder Thursday in the death of Dawnn Jaffier.
Prosecutors say the men were rivals who confronted each other with guns near a Caribbean festival in Dorchester. Prosecutors say Williams fired, but Colas didn’t.
A bullet killed Jaffier, a 26-year-old city youth worker.
Prosecutors said their case stemmed from a 1997 Supreme Judicial Court ruling that said a defendant who participates in a gun battle can be held liable for a death even if the defendant’s opponent fired the fatal shot.
Williams’ attorney has said his client was wrongly identified as the shooter.
Colas’ attorney has said his client wasn’t carrying a gun.
