VASS, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say a woman has died in a Christmas fire at a home in North Carolina.

Moore County fire officials say firefighters found a woman and a dog dead inside the home near Vass as they fought the blaze around 2 p.m. Monday.

Authorities say firefighters saw smoke coming from the two-story home when they arrived.

The name of the woman has not been released, and an autopsy has been ordered to determine her cause of death.

Moore County Chief Deputy Frank Rodriguez told The Fayetteville Observer that deputies are trying to determine the cause of the blaze.
