NEW ORLEANS (AP) - New Orleans police say a 41-year-old man was fatally shot late Christmas night.

Spokesman Gary Scheets says officers answered a call about a shooting about 11:45 p.m. and found the body of a man who’d been shot multiple times.

He says in an email that the body was in an apartment, but he does not know whether the man lived there.

A police news release originally said the man was 76, but the department corrected the age later Tuesday.

Police said investigators did not know a motive Tuesday, and the coroner’s office would release the victim’s name after an autopsy and notification of his family.

This story has been corrected to show the victim was 41, not 76.
