PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A Providence police officer was treated at a hospital after his cruiser was struck by a car driven by a man charged with driving drunk.
WJAR-TV reports the accident happened about 7 p.m. Sunday on Douglas Avenue.
Police said Officer Daniel Hernandez was taken to Roger Williams Hospital after the crash and later released.
The driver of the 2006 Honda CRV, a 70-year-old man, was charged with driving under the influence after being administered a breath test. He was also charged with several other infractions including failing to yield right of way.
