LANCASTER, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina coroner said a man was killed after he was struck by a car as he worked in his yard.
Lancaster County Deputy Coroner Jennifer Collins told local media outlets that 53-year-old Gary Gene Roach Jr. was doing yard work Tuesday when a truck driving east on S.C. Highway 9 left the road and hit him.
Collins said Roach died at the scene, and the driver of the truck was taken to a local hospital. There were no other passengers in the pickup truck.
The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
