The House is expected to have to vote again Wednesday on congressional Republicans’ $1.5 trillion tax-cut plan, after the Senate parliamentarian found that several items in the House-passed bill violate Senate rules.
Sens. Bernard Sanders and Ron Wyden said the provisions in question deal with the title of the bill, the use of savings accounts for home-school expenses, and the criteria under which private universities could be subjected to a new excise tax.
The senators said they plan to object to the provisions during Senate consideration of the bill Tuesday and make the House vote again.
The House passed the package earlier Tuesday, but the House and Senate must pass identical plans before President Trump can sign the final measure into law.
