DANVILLE, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont town is putting final touches on its proposal to remain an independent school district.
After two years of studying partnership options - including a proposal to merge with Cabot and Twinfield that voters shot down this summer - the Danville School Board recently voted on remaining independent. The Caledonian-Record reports the town’s school board is preparing an Alternative Governance Structure to present to the state in order to remain an independent school district.
The proposal must persuade the state board that a merged district is not possible or practicable in order to be approved.
School Board Chair Bruce Melendy says the board hopes to vote to approve its proposal on Monday night.
