NEW YORK (AP) - New York City police say an 89-year-old woman is dead after a car crash in a Brooklyn neighborhood known for its dazzling Christmas displays.

Police say the wreck happened at about 2:45 p.m. Sunday in Brooklyn’s Dyker Heights neighborhood, which draws big crowds and heavy traffic throughout December because of its over-the-top holiday decorations.

Officials identified the victim as Helen Malinowski, of Brooklyn.

Police said she was riding in a livery cab when it was hit in an intersection by a car driven by a 72-year-old woman.

Three other people were treated for injuries.

An initial report by WPIX said Malinowski was riding in an Uber vehicle, but the company said that was incorrect. Neither the car nor its driver had any affiliation with Uber.
