A man struck by a Metro train Monday morning sustained only minor injuries, according to reports from the emergency medical services and fire rescue teams who pulled him out.
The incident occurred at 8:15 a.m. when a man climbed down onto the tracks at Cleveland Park Metro station. A Metro spokesperson told The Washington Times that he “intentionally placed himself in the path of the oncoming train.”
The unidentified adult man was “conscious, alert, and breathing” when D.C. Fire and EMS rescued him from the trackbed, according to Metro Transit Police.
The situation caused Red Line delays between Dupont Circle and Friendship Heights for about an hour.
