It just dawned on me that the continuing left-wing, anti-Trump attacks have a sinister objective: to tear down the American way of life. These attacks have as their persistent refrain that the “1 percent” are evil, that corporations are ripping off the American middle class and that Republicans are only for the rich. And their success is becoming evident in recent polls showing that the majority of millennials would prefer to live under socialism than democracy (meaning capitalism). Seriously?

This is frightening and points to the immense danger to the future of America brought about by the convergence of two additional factors influencing today’s millennials: universities that apparently fail to provide a balanced college education and teach what it means to be an American, and the loss of a free press. It used to be that news was objective and readers could not ascertain the political philosophy of a news-story writer. No more.

Students coming out of colleges now apparently have no basic understanding of capitalism, democracy or America as the land of opportunity. Worse, hardly any have knowledge of socialism, which is one step removed from communism. How many know that these beliefs resulted in over 100 million deaths in the past century, or that they have consistently failed to provide the high standard of living and opportunity that democracy has?

America has seen tremendous successes by entrepreneurs who created corporations that now provide millions of jobs. Why isn’t this being stressed in universities and by the “free” press? What is wrong with successful people becoming wealthy, especially given that they pay over 70 percent of the income-tax revenue in this country? They should be applauded, not condemned. Plus, the majority of Americans are invested in the stock market and depend on successful corporations to provide their pensions and annuities. Destroy the “rich” and the corporations, and you destroy America.
