CYNTHIANA, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky State Police say a man who had been breaking into a home was shot and killed by someone inside.

Trooper Charles Loudermilk tells WKYT-TV that 57-year-old Marcellus Custard had broken the glass out of the home’s front door and was trying to unlock it when he was shot Sunday night.

Loudermilk says two people who were inside the home at the time were not hurt. The person who shot Custard was not arrested.

The Harrison County coroner identified Custard as the man who was killed. Troopers are investigating why Custard was there.

WKYT-TV did not report further details.
