FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) - A firefighter and police officer in Ferguson are recovering after suffering injuries in a house fire.
The fire broke out around 2 a.m. at a vacant house in the St. Louis County town. Assistant Fire Chief Randy Skaggs told KMOX Radio that the firefighter collapsed, possibly from the heat, while inside the building.
Skaggs says the police officer suffered smoke inhalation while helping to get the firefighter out of the building.
Both were treated and released at a hospital.
Skaggs says it appears that someone broke into the vacant home. Arson investigators are searching for the cause of the fire.
