President Trump said Monday that Republicans will do well in the 2018 midterms.

“Remember, Republicans are 5-0 in Congressional Races this year. The media refuses to mention this. I said Gillespie and Moore would lose (for very different reasons), and they did. I also predicted ’I’ would win. Republicans will do well in 2018, very well! @foxandfriends,” Mr. Trump tweeted.

Republicans lost both the Virginia governor’s race and the special election in Alabama for the Senate, but they won several of the other special elections this year to fill seats vacated by Mr. Trump’s Cabinet members.

Democrats say Republicans losing the seat in deep-red Alabama is an indicator that Republicans will lose in a wave election next year, making them optimistic they can win the majority in both the Senate and the House.
