PHOENIX (AP) - The president of The Arizona Republic and azcentral.com will resign effective Jan. 5 to take a position at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

The Arizona Republic reports that Mi-Ai Parrish will fill an endowed chair created in honor of former Republic Publisher Sue Clark-Johnson, who died in 2015.

She cited as accomplishments her role in helping the company grow its audience, expand its digital footprint, develop new revenue and support award-winning journalism.

She wrote a column responding to threats after The Republic endorsed a Democratic presidential candidate for the first time in the paper’s history.

During a spate of sexual-misconduct accusations in the media, politics and Hollywood, Parrish disclosed Rep. Don Shooter made a demeaning sexual and racial remark to her in 2016.
