COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a man killed by a freight train in central South Carolina was driving his delivery truck over the tracks.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts says 45-year-old Michael Murphy of Columbia was thrown from his vehicle and died from multiple injuries after being hit by the train.

The crash happened about 8:30 a.m. Friday at a crossing northeast of Columbia.



The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
