ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities in western New York say three people have been rescued from a gorge.

WHAM-TV reports the Rochester Fire Department responded to an emergency in the Genesee River gorge around Maplewood Park around noon Wednesday. Authorities say firefighters used a rope to rescue two male hikers and a female hiker who were stranded.

Fire officials say the rescue took about five minutes.



The Rochester Fire Department says people should prepare for cold weather conditions when participating in outdoor activities.
