WINOOSKI, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont-based e-commerce company has cut 18 jobs in a restructuring effort.
Winooski-based MyWebGrocer confirmed the layoffs Monday, saying the cuts allow the company to reinvest and expand in support of existing goals and growth efforts. The Burlington Free Press reports the employees who were let go were offered severance packages.
MyWebGrocer employs 315 people across the United States, Canada, England and Ireland, and works with grocery stores to offer online shopping. The company was not required to file notice with the state Department of Labor, as only layoffs of 50 people or more require notification.
The company is currently owned by a private equity firm in Palo Alto, California. It was founded in Vermont in 1999.
