NEW YORK (AP) - Police say five New York City officers have been injured after an armed man struck them with his car while fleeing an arrest.
Authorities say police responded to Brooklyn’s Flatlands neighborhood around 11 a.m. Sunday to resolve a parking dispute. Police say a 33-year-old man was blocking a resident’s driveway with a car.
Officials say responding officers tried to arrest the driver when they spotted a gun in his waistband. Authorities say a shot was fired when the suspect moved but no one was hit.
Officials say the man drove off and struck five officers as he fled the scene. Authorities say the man crashed and fled on foot before he was arrested.
Police recovered the firearm at the scene.
The officers involved in the crash were treated for minor injuries.
