CHAIN OF PONDS TOWNSHIP, Maine (AP) - The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a fuel truck and a tractor-trailer.
Officials say the collision happened Monday morning on Route 27 in Chain of Ponds Township, about 10 miles from the Canadian border.
Deputies say one of the drivers died when the two vehicles collided while trying to pass each other. The victim’s name wasn’t released.
Police say the fuel truck was hauling 2,000 gallons of heating oil and 800 gallons of kerosene, some of which ruptured. The trailer was empty.
