CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - A group of New Hampshire firefighters is headed to British Columbia to suppress wildfires after helping with others in the western United States.

They are headed to one of six regional fire centers Friday and will likely be dispatched to one of numerous new fires burning in the region.

The British Columbia Wildfire Service reports a total of 848 wildfires since April 1 that have burned over 1 million acres. A state of emergency has been declared in the southern half of British Columbia.
