NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - Police say a 57-year-old Delaware woman was killed in a single-car crash.

Delaware State Police identified the woman on Thursday as Diane L. Hamby of New Castle.

Police say Hamby was driving early Wednesday when her car drifted into the center grass median for an unknown reason. Police say the car continued across the road before striking a utility pole.

Police say the woman was trapped in the car and had to be extricated by fire officials. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police have said impairment doesn’t appear to be a factor in the crash.
