POLK CITY, Iowa (AP) - A former nursing director in Polk City has been accused of stealing pain pills from patients.
Court documents say 51-year-old Laura Townsend-Edler, of Gladbrook, is charged with prohibited acts with a controlled substance, a prescription drug violation and tampering with records. A home phone listed for her isn’t in service. Court records don’t list the name of an attorney who could comment for her.
Polk County prosecutors say she used her position at Polk City Nursing & Rehabilitation to steal hydrocodone from a patient, starting in December 2016 and lasting until May this year.
Officials for the nursing home have declined to comment.
