PRESTONBURG, Ky. (AP) - A Kentucky doctor is accused of stabbing his girlfriend and threatening to kill her.
WKYT-TV reports that Peter Zajac was charged with assault and terroristic threatening Tuesday. The arrest citation says Zajac stabbed the unidentified woman in the shoulder and threatened to cut her jugular, as well as spitting on and cursing at her.
Zajac has a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree and is an associate professor of family medicine at the University of Pikeville and the director of its medical school’s clinical skills training and evaluation program. The university released a statement saying Zajac has been suspended pending the completion of the investigation.
It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.
