SEATTLE (AP) - A woman who served as the treasurer of a small union in Snohomish County has been sentenced to five months in prison for embezzling nearly $83,000.

Pascale McAtee was the treasurer of the Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers Local 161. The 58-year-old from Lynnwood pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in April, admitting she took the money beginning in 2011, the year after she was elected treasurer. The union discovered the thefts in 2015.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Seattle sought a 10-month sentence, and said in a statement Tuesday the embezzlement “demoralized union membership and resulted in the union being hit with penalties for overdue taxes.”
