PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A man shot and wounded by police in north Philadelphia has been charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property and another firearms count.
Authorities said 39-year-old Anthony Middleton was spotted on a west Kensington sidewalk with a gun just after 11 p.m. Saturday by a sergeant on bike patrol. He fled down an alley, and the sergeant said he saw the suspect raising the weapon in his direction, so he fired four rounds, hitting the suspect in the leg and right side. Police said his loaded semi-automatic pistol had been reported stolen in Clearfield.
Court documents indicate that Middleton will be represented by the Defender Association of Philadelphia, where a representative said Wednesday that no attorney had yet been assigned to the case.
