CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Authorities say a northern Nevada sheriff’s deputy shot a suspect who stabbed him in the head during a fight at a casino parking garage.
Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said both the deputy and the suspect were hospitalized with what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries. The officer has already been released.
The altercation began about 6 p.m. Friday when the unidentified deputy approached the suspect after a suspicious person was reported at the Carson Nugget casino-hotel.
A fight broke out that lasted about two minutes, leading to the suspect stabbing the deputy in the head with a knife, and then the deputy using his firearm.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s office will investigate the police shooting.
