MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. (AP) - Police on Long Island say a man has been killed while crossing Sunrise Highway in Massapequa (mas-uh-PEEK’-wuh).

The victim’s name was being withheld by police.

The accident happened at about 9:25 p.m. Friday near the Long Island Rail Road station.



Nassau County detectives say the pedestrian was walking from the south side to the north side of the busy six-lane highway when he was struck by a 2015 Lincoln.

The 49-year-old driver remained at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
