BELLFLOWER, Calif. (AP) - The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says deputies have found a man dead in a Bellflower home he broke into after two car crashes, an assault and a car theft.
A special weapons team entered the residence late Thursday morning and found the man deceased following several hours of efforts by crisis negotiators to persuade the man to surrender.
Deputies were summoned by a 3 a.m. 911 call from a woman reporting that a man broke into her home and she had locked herself in a bedroom. She then escaped through a window.
Investigators learned the suspect had earlier been in a traffic collision, assaulted someone who stopped to help and stole that person’s car. The suspect drove a mile, caused another collision, got out and broke into the home.
