CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - An 18-year-old driver is accused of fatally striking a North Carolina man on a moped.

Charlotte police announced Wednesday that Leon Moses Jr. is charged with felony hit and run, misdemeanor death by vehicle and driving without a license.

Officers found 67-year-old William Johnson Jr. in the roadway next to a moped June 23. Witnesses described the car of the suspected hit-and-run driver. It was found nearby, but the driver had fled.



Johnson was taken to a hospital and died of his injuries July 15.

Moses was in the Mecklenburg County jail Wednesday. It’s unknown if he has an attorney.
