MONTICELLO, Utah (AP) - An 18-year-old Moab man has been sentenced to a year in jail for his role in a fatal prom-night crash that killed two teens and injured two others.

Gage Moore was driving a car that crashed shortly after the Grant County High School prom on March 5. He pleaded guilty in a plea bargain arrangement to two counts of automobile homicide and two counts of reckless endangerment.

Two passengers were killed - 14-year-old Taylor Bryant and 16-year-old Connor Denney.

Moore apologized during Monday’s sentencing. He said he lives with the pain every day.

KUTV-TV reports (https://tinyurl.com/yc46hek6 ) tensions boiled over after the judge announced the plea deal and sheriff’s deputies had to break up a fight between family members in the parking lot.

Honey Dawson, the mother of one of the injured teens, said the “kid got away with murder.”
