COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a man was killed and his nephew was injured when a boat crashed into a dock on a South Carolina lake.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher tells local news outlets that 57-year-old Jimmy Gene Ayers of Lexington died of multiple traumatic injuries to the upper body in the Sunday crash. Ayers’ nephew, who was also on board, was taken to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital with injuries considered not life-threatening. He was in stable condition Monday.

Capt. Robert McCullough of the state Department of Natural Resources says the collision happened about 6 a.m. Sunday near Wessinger Island in Lake Murray west of Columbia.

Further details, such as the kind of boat involved, have not been released.
