STERRETT, Ala. (AP) - Authorities in Alabama are investigating a fatal shooting.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office says in a statement that deputies responded Saturday afternoon to a report that someone had been shot at a Sterrett home. Deputies arrived to find a man, later identified as 30-year-old Samuel Julius Nave, lying on the ground outside the home with a gunshot wound.

After efforts to revive Nave were unsuccessful, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies interviewed a man and woman who were at the home when the shooting occurred. The statement says the shooting may have been the result of an ongoing domestic dispute. Witnesses told deputies that Nave threatened the man with a weapon, which led to the shooting.

The person who shot Nave hasn’t been charged. The investigation is ongoing.
